About NP Mavrovo

National Park ” Mavrovo ” is established by law of the National Assembly of the People’s Republic of Macedonia 19. 04. 1949, by which forest areas around Mavrovo field was declared a National Park. Under this law the National Park ” Mavrovo ” was formed “because of its exceptional natural beauty , historical and scientific importance of forests and forest areas around Mavrovo field.”

Sport and Recreation

Upper gorna ledina area (mountain huts of wood) is a very attractive hiking and picnic area to which can be reached by departure from the place Staparov bridge near the village Velebrdo or the village Bitushe on marked trail that is well penetrable and it passes through the pine forest that makes the trip especially enjoyable. Walking is about 2 hours , and the experience unforgettable

Natural Resources

The area of the park is located in the mountains “Sharplaninska” group “Sharkopadinski system”. According to today’s borders this area encompass the southern branches of the Shar Planina. Korab massif of Mount Bistra bordering the basin of the river Radika. Mavrovo lake surrounding razgranocite of Bistra and Shar Mountain.
