Stocking the Mavrovo Lake and the River Radika with fish
The National Park Mavrovo continues its activities in the field of maintaining and enriching the fish fund at all its territory. Therefore, in compliance with its plans and jurisdictions, it was on 17 October 2011, Monday, that it stocked with fish both the Mavrovo Lake and the rivers in its basin as well as the River Radika and its tributaries. The stocking was done with 20 000 pieces of “Indigenous Spring Trout” (salmo faroides), i.e. more precisely with:
-10 000 pieces of trout in the Mavrovo Lake and the rivers in the villages of Leunovo, Nikiforovo, Mavrovo, Brodec and Krakornica, and
-10 000 pieces of trout in the River Radika at the location titled “river joint” and Bigor’s Lawns.
What preceded this activity was the burning of 900 m of fishing nets confiscated from the poachers who had fished at the Mavrovo Lake, the confiscation being made by the rangers of the National Park, in that fishing season.
