World Carp Fishing Championship
n September 2026, Lake Mavrovo will host the World Carp Fishing Championship—a major international sporting event that represents significant recognition for Mavrovo National Park and Macedonia, as well as a serious responsibility for all institutions involved.
To mark this occasion, the first press conference was held at the Administration of Mavrovo National Park. The attendees were addressed by the Director of Mavrovo National Park, Haris Ibraimi, the Mayor of the Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe, Oner Jakuposki, and the President of the Macedonian Fishing Federation, Filip Serafimović. A Memorandum of Cooperation was also signed during the meeting, officially confirming the joint commitment to the successful organization of the event.
As part of this cooperation, the institutions will work in a coordinated manner to create all the necessary conditions for a smooth and high-quality hosting of the championship, in accordance with international standards.
As the manager of one of the most significant natural areas in the country, Mavrovo National Park will pay special attention to preserving natural values, ensuring a sustainable approach in the organization of the event.
The World Championship is expected to bring significant benefits to the region, particularly in terms of tourism development, the local economy, and the international promotion of Mavrovo National Park and Macedonia as a recognizable destination for sporting and ecological events.
The institutions will continue with intensive preparations in the coming period, and the public will be regularly informed about all activities related to the organization.
